This is a speaker upgrade for the Intermountain HO SD40-2. It is specifically designed to replace the paper cone 16x35mm speaker. Our speaker upgrade is a vast improvement over the factory unit, with much higher volume, more bass and better mid-tones. There is no cutting or modification required to the model; the speaker kit simply screws into place with the factory hardware.

NOTE: If using the factory Soundtraxx Tsunami decoder (earlier models), you MUST use the included 4 ohm resistor wired in series. Otherwise the decoder will be damaged. Motown Models does not accept responsibility for damaged decoders due to improper installation.

This speaker should fit all Intermountain SD40-2 models. Please check pictures to confirm fitment. Speaker dimensions are 18x14x36mm.

Like with all our speaker kits, a 4 ohm resistor is included for non-ESU installations.
