The Motown Models HO GP9R is a handcrafted locomotive model that utilizes 3D printing technology for its body shell. The model has not been done before in any scale or material. We painstakingly researched, designed, and crafted this model to be the definitive example of GTW’s unique GP9 “Battle Creek” rebuild. Each model is produced and built in Detroit, Michigan, and uses an Athearn® Genesis® chassis and drivetrain. Every road number (#4600-4635) is available to order, and will be accurate per its road number. All paint schemes are accurate per their road number; #4600-4632 will be painted in traditional GTW colors, #4633 will be “Operation Lifesaver,” and #4634-35 in CN red and black. Our first run of models is representing the prototypes in “as-delivered” guise, with the option of adding ditch lights. Modernized versions (AC units, new horns, different louvers, etc) will be done in a later run. There were many changes between road numbers, all of which will be accurate per the model.
Preorders will require a $100 deposit (per model) due at time of website checkout, which is non-refundable. If you’d like to make changes to your order after placing it, you can contact us and we can discuss what you’d like to have done. The models will be built in the order that they are purchased; so the first preorder to be placed will be the first to be built (serial numbers #01-50). Being that each model is handmade to your specs, it will take some time to complete each unit. Upon model completion, pictures will be sent, along with an invoice for the remaining balance. The balance must be paid within 30 days of receiving the invoice, otherwise, the model is forfeited. If you need to cancel your order, you will give up your build slot, and your deposit will not be refunded.
